Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

Sounds weird, huh? Well it found Aubrey! A weird rash cropped up in her groin area and we were keeping an eye out. I thought it might be because of some antibiotics that I am on so I called her dr. and explained the situation. I was told to get some cream and treat it like a yeast infection (very common in babies). Aubrey and I went to the store and bought some Lotrimin AF cream as well as some probiotics to kick this thing.

Tuesday night she felt warm so we took her temp and she was coming in at 99 and change. I thought it might be another tooth so I gave her some Tylenol and she went to bed. Wednesday she was 99 and change again so I she got another dose of Tylenol and we headed to school. I took her temp in the car when we got there and she was now 100.6. No school for this little one! She came to work with me and I called the dr. We had an appt later that morning and the dr looked at her and said it was Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. Aubrey had developed some bumps on her legs throughout the week that looked similar to the groin issue but I had no idea they were this thing.

Later Wednesday she was pretty fussy. She really just wanted to nurse and be held. Cuddle time was ok by me! Before bed I gave her some more Tylenol and she gagged on it and proceeded to throw up everything that was in her tummy - twice! Poor kiddo!

Thursday she was still not feeling great. She was still a little cuddle bug. Her temp was still coming in at 100.6. She was less fussy so it was a Tylenol free day. We hung out at home and had fun playing.

Friday she was down to 99.4 and not fussy at all! She came to work with me for a half day and was such a good girl during my meetings. Work is a lot more fun when she comes!

Today she was finally fever free! Now we just need to work on getting her appetite back. She hasn't been eating so well now for a week but now that she is beginning to feel better I hope she gets back on track with food. Wish us luck!

Mini Baby

So Aubrey is small - but not quite as small as she looks in these pictures. She had a blast playing with Brian's sneakers the other night. The sneaker is half her size!

Neighbors

Aubrey's tooth has a neighbor. The lower right is here and has joined the left one. I found it on Monday when we were in the grocery store. Last Friday night she had a rough night. She woke up at 11 pm and didn't go back to sleep until 12:30 ish. She was screaming hysterically and was not consolable. I would get her to sleep and she would wake up screaming right away. She had some Tylenol and finally was able to get back to sleep. The tooth explains the restlessness and unhappy crying. How many more teeth need to come in??!!?
You can click on each picture for a larger view of her pearly whites!

Rocker Chic

Check out the shirt....

Although very cute and a personal favorite of Dad's I think next time I will pair it with the pink shorts that she has. Twice today we heard what a cute little boy she is! I am guessing those people missed the ruffles and bow on the shorts!

4th of July

We had a busy 4th of July weekend. Aubrey was a social butterfly this weekend! Saturday was the last swimming lesson. She did great and only fussed for a moment when we first got into the pool. She has done fine in Isaac, Becky and Dave's pool which is much warmer so it seems as though she does not like cold pools.

Later that day we went to Don and Laurie's house for an early 4th party. We got there and Aubrey was the center of attention. We put her down on their tile floor to show off her crawling skills...of course she decided not to play! She did really well though (no stranger anxiety). She ended up getting in the pool and we stayed in there for quite awhile. The pool was nice and warm so she was happy as a clam!

Sunday Aubrey was up around 7: 30 am. She napped for just about 20 minutes on the way home from church around 11:30 am. I figured this would mean a rough afternoon but she did just fine. We went to Ellie's birthday party and Aubrey was super happy playing with all of the different toys that they have. She ended up getting her hair pulled which sent her into tears - they were very off tears. She was so tired that she let out a startled wail and then stopped, then wailed again, then stopped then started again. Poor kiddo. She ended up finally taking a 30 ish minute snooze while nursing around 5 pm.

After waking up we headed out to Jenny's pool party. Aubrey got to meet Lucky, Jenny's new puppy. He was excited to see everyone and Aubrey was super excited to see him. She kept trying to pat him - which really meant she was waving her hands around excitedly. She was trying so hard to make friends with Lucky.

We then left Jenny's to go to Ron's for one final party. At this point it was after 8 pm which is bedtime. She was fussy when we got into the car but crashed after a few minutes. Once we got to Ron's she woke up so I decided to do the "ride around the block" trick - this was the first time I promise! She fell back to sleep so we were able to bring her out in her car seat. She stayed asleep until people started to get a bit loud. Once she woke up we figured she'd be howling but she was really good! She was just looking around at everyone but we figured that we better head home. We got home and put this little party girl to bed!

4th of July Parade

Today at school Aubrey had a 4th of July parade and petting zoo. All of the kids in her class wore these little hats as they were pushed around the courtyard in the red "car" stroller. She was great and kept her hat on the whole time. She was dressed to impress in her patriotic red overalls from her Nana Donna, Papa and Nana.

Check this out!

She is done with the worm. She finished that one up last week. We are now on to full out crawling!

Did you know that 50% o babies can crawl at 7 months, 75% at 10 months and 90% at 11 months. Babies crawl when they have learned and mastered all skills needed for crawling. The skills needed are neurological as well as physical strength. Miss Aubrey has mastered the skills and is ready to go! I think this means that we are childproofing this weekend!
